Miss Lena Dunn

Our school was named after Miss Lena Dunn who taught for many years at the old West End School, which our school replaced. During her years of teaching, Miss Dunn also coached basketball. She often had winning seasons.

The Lena Dunn staff is committed to providing the best possible educational experience for all students. This means meeting appropriate educational academic standards and providing behavioral and emotional experiences that will prepare students for other educational settings and life challenges.

Physical Structure

Lena Dunn was completed in 1978. The building is th “newest” elementary facility in Washington Community Schools and has an enrollment of approximately 400 students in grades kindergarten through sixth and special education.

Located on 22.5 acres, Lena Dunn features 28 self-contained, air-conditioned classrooms furnished to encourage student learning, specially equipped rooms for music, art and special education, a colorful cafeteria with family style seating, a 14,000 square foot physical education complex with gymnasium, bleachers, showers, lockers and carpeted indoor play area, an 8,000 volume library with adjoining study kiva, a health suite, and a spacious playground including lighted tennis courts.
