Mr. White — Principal
Mr. White begins his third year as principal of Washington High School. Previously, Mr. White was the principal at Medora Jr.-Sr. High School from 2003-2007. He also coached the varsity boys’ basketball team at Medora. From 2007-2009, Mr. White was principal of Batchelor Middle School in Bloomington. During this time Batchelor Middle School earned National Four Star School distinction for school improvement in student achievement. Mr. White taught for eight years in special education and social studies at Frankfort Middle School and Orleans Jr.-Sr. High School. He was awarded the Lilly Foundation Creativity in Teaching Fellowship in 2002 and 2010. Mr. White is originally from Indianapolis and is a 1991 graduate of Roncalli High School. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in education from Indiana University in 1995, and his master’s degree in school administration in 2002. His wife, Tara, is the media specialist at Washington Junior High School. They have three children, Lauren (age 13), Jackson (age 10), and Morgan (age 6). “My family and I are very excited to be a part of the Washington family. It is an honor to serve as principal for a school community with as much pride and tradition as Washington has.”
Mr. Yowell — Assistant Principal
Washington High School welcomes Mr. Levi Yowell as Assistant Principal beginning January 31st. Mr. Yowell is a graduate of Muncie Central High School and earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Olivet Nazarene University. After working in business management in the trucking industry, Mr. Yowell completed a transition to teaching program and earned his master’s degree in teaching from the University of Indianapolis. Mr. Yowell taught business education at Decatur Central, Danville, and Cascade high schools. Mr. Yowell earned a strong reputation for effective instruction, firm management, and working positively with students who need extra support to succeed.
Mr. Yowell earned his educational leadership and administration license from the University of Indianapolis. Mr. Yowell stated, “I am excited to be a part of the Washington community and am looking forward to working with the students and faculty at WHS. My personal goal is to have a positive impact on student achievement and the overall success of Washington High School.”
