The faculty and staff wish each of you a safe and  fun summer.


A reminder to students that plan on using a sport as a PE credit.  Please be sure to return completed form to the athletic office before the end of the day Friday. The forms are available in the athletic office.

Students:  You are responsible to turn in class room books.  If you do not turn in the book that was issued to you the cost of a replacement book will be charged to you.


Students:  When you clean out your lockers at the end of the year you must take your possessions home with you.  We do not store your items over the summer.  All leftover items will be donated to a charity.


If you have lost any items of clothing you need to stop in the office before the end of the day Friday.  After Friday all leftover items will be donated.


Parking permits for the student council parking lot can be turned in to Mr. Riney this Wednesday and Thursday.


Mandatory graduation practice for all seniors planning to go through the graduation ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 22, from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Seniors are to report to the auditorium as soon as they complete locker cleanout.


The second mandatory graduation practice will be held from 1:15 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. on Friday, May 23. This will be a dress rehearsal. Seniors are to bring their caps and gowns to practice. It is not necessary to wear dress clothes to practice.



Graduation pictures will be taken of all seniors in cap and gown on Friday, May 23. Dee’s Photography will post all pictures online, and students will be able to select and order picture online. There are no picture order packets this year.



Dress code for seniors for graduation on Saturday, May 24, is as follows:


senior boys – dress slacks, shirt, tie, and dress shoes (no tennis shoes or cowboy boots (unless approved))


senior girls – skirt and blouse or dress, and dress shoes (no flip flops, tennis shoes, or cowboy boots)


Seniors not in compliance with the dress code will not be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony.

If you have medication in the nurse’s office please have your parents come pick it up.  Thank You!

Any High School student wishing to take VU Lifetime Fitness and Wellness class taught by Mr. Counsil, which can count for High School PE Credit as well as Vincennes University credit, needs to see Mrs. Killion today to sign up.

Permission slips for FFA trip to Holiday World are now available in the Ag Room.

Any student interested in recovering a class through Summer School should report to the counseling office and ask for a Summer School application.  The application deadline is Tuesday, May 27.

Do you like to dance?  Want to try something new?  There will be an informational meeting on Wednesday, May 21 for anyone interested in joining color guard for next year.  This meeting will start after school and will be over by 4pm.  Any questions, see Mr. Griffith or Mr. Sydow.


We have Pioneer corn detasseling applications in the office.  It starts approximately July 1st and pays $7.75 per hour.


Memorial Hospital and Vincennes University Jasper Campus are offering a Health Careers Camp this summer, July 23-25, in Jasper.  Designed for students interested in learning about health care careers, the camp is low cost and financial assistance is available.  There is a flyer with more details in the office.


Washington FFA will be going to Holiday World on May 27th and the FFA Banquet will be on May 28th.


Starting 2014-15 school year all seniors will have to have a 2nd meningitis shot per Indiana state law requirements.  The 2nd meningitis immunization must be after the students 16th birthday.  Please bring in a copy of the 2nd meningitis immunization received prior to / or at the beginning of next school year. Thank You


Some Early College classes are available this summer during the evening at WHS.  Speech – COMM 143, College Algebra, MATH 102, and Lifetime Fitness.  For those students wishing to earn the 30 General Education Core Certificate or for those working toward an Associates degree, COMM 143 & MATH 102 are required.  If you are interested in these classes and have not met with Mrs. Killion, please so immediately.  If you already have registration forms for any summer or fall class, please be sure to turn  those forms  in this week.

Washington athletic office announces that Physical Examinations for athletes will be held at Dr. Cullen’s office on Tuesday May 27 and Tuesday July 29 from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm.  The cost will be $15.00 to be paid at the time of the visit. Insurance will not be filed. Athletes under the age of 18 will need to have a parent with them.  If they can not have a parent with them there is a consent form available in the athletic office.


Daviess Community Hospital will be holding a Sports Enhancement Clinic. The clinic will run from June 9 through July 16.  The program is designed for Jr High and High School students who what to enhance sports performance.  The camp will focus on proper mechanics for injury prevention, core stabilization, speed and agility.  Applications are available in the High School athletic office.
